The county is divided into thirteen townships: Drexel, Icard, Jonas Ridge, Linville,
Lovelady, Lower Creek, Lower Fork, Morganton, Quaker Meadows, Silver Creek, Smoky
Creek, Upper Creek, Upper Fork and Valdese.
